WHEREAS the planned cap on energy production from the NDP-Liberals is a direct violation of Section 92A of the Constitution, undermining Alberta’s autonomy over its natural resources;

AND WHEREAS this production cap is predicted to have a devastating economic impact, risking a loss of up to $1 trillion from Canada’s GDP and the potential loss of 151,000 jobs by 2030;

AND WHEREAS such a cap will undercut Alberta’s competitive edge and the significant investments in clean technologies that are currently underway;

AND WHEREAS implementing this cap would lead to increased carbon leakage, displacing emissions to countries with lower environmental standards, therefore providing no global benefit;

THEREFORE, WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, in defense of Alberta’s economy, energy sector, and workers, hereby demand that the NDP-Liberals immediately scrap their planned energy production cap and respect Alberta’s constitutional right to manage its natural resources.
