Affordability
  • Affordability is a primary challenge facing many Albertans as rising inflation makes it challenging for many to afford necessities, but the United Conservative party has taken action to help make life more affordable through our $2.8 billion Affordability Action Plan.
  • $900 per household in inflation relief when the province needed it most, including suspending the provincial fuel tax, indexing personal income tax, and providing up to $500 in electricity rebates.
  • Temporary Natural Gas Price Protection and Regulated Rate Option Price Protection.
  • In addition to broad-based relief, the Affordability Action Plan also included targeted supports:
    • $600 relief payments per child for Alberta families
    • $600 relief payments for seniors and vulnerable Albertans
    • Fuel Tax Holiday expansion saving Albertans 13 cents/litre on gasoline – that’s around $10 in savings for each tank of gas
    • Up to $500 in electricity rebates
  • Alberta’s inflation remained below the national average for a ninth consecutive month and has been the lowest in Canada for all of 2023 so far.
  • $6 million to expand affordable transit in rural communities.
  • $9 million to expand affordable transit programs Calgary and Edmonton.
  • $20 million over two years to support food banks and related food security organizations across the province helping to put food on the table for Albertans in need.

  • Pausing auto insurance rates until the end of 2023 while we develop short-term and long-term solutions to steady and lower auto insurance rates.
